Using the results of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), this paper investigates the separation and inclusion of a series of weakly polar imidazole derivatives, with hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (HP-beta-CD) in the mobile phase over a wide range of column temperatures. Gibbs Helmholtz parameters (Delta(Delta H) and Delta(Delta S)) of two adjacent imidazole peak on a chromatogram were determined from the graph of the logarithm of the separation factor, alpha, against the reciprocal of the temperature. A temperature dependent reversal of the elution order between a pair of imidazole derivatives was studied. The results revealed that the main parameter determining interactions between imidazole derivatives and HP-beta-CD increased as follows: HP-beta-CD double left right arrow solute hydrogen bonding interaction > HP-beta-CD double left right arrow solute complexation.

Synthesis and biological activity of two oxireno-azecin-imidazole derivatives on perfusion pressure via guanylate cyclase inhibition

Some drugs have used in the treatment of heart failure; however, several of these drugs can produce secondary effects such as arrhythmia, hypotension and others. Therefore, the objective of this study was to synthesize two oxireno-azecin-imidazole derivatives (compounds 13 and 14) from two estradiol and estrone analogs through a series of reactions which involving; a) addition; b) acetylation; c) epoxidation; d) formation of two azecine derivatives; e) removal of silyl fragment of the azecines with hydrofluoric acid. Additionally, these compounds were confirmed by NMR spectroscopic data. Then, biological activity of the oxireno-diazepam-imidazole derivatives against perfusion pressure was evaluate in an isolated rat heart model, using the BAY-41-2272 (guanylate cyclase agonist), NS-2028 (guanylate cyclase inhibitor) and nifedipine (calcium channel antagonist) as controls. The results indicate that compounds 13 and 14 increased the perfusion pressure in the absence or presence of BAY-41-2272 and NS-2028; however, this effect was inhibited by nifedipine. These data indicate that compounds 13 and 14 could have a dual effect on perfusion pressure through guanylate cyclase inhibition and calcium channel type-L activation.

Imidazole is an excellent nucleophilic initiator in thiol-Michael addition reaction of thiol and vinyl sulfone at room temperature. To delay the gelation of the monomer mixture, thermal latent curing agents based on imidazole are designed and the latency and curing efficiency towards thiol-vinyl sulfone system are evaluated. Ncarbonylated imidazole derivatives are non-nucleophilic towards Michael reaction with vinyl sulfone. However, during curing at elevated temperature ( > 80 degrees C), thiol monomer thiolyze imidazole derivative and the released imidazole acts as a nucleophilic initiator. It is found that the viscosity at room temperature of thiol-vinyl sulfone system with 2b or 2d imidazole derivatives increases slowly up to over 10 h, which permits sufficient time for processing such as mixing, degassing and injection into the mold. In the application of 2b or 2d in network polymerization of polythiol and divinyl sulfone, both catalysts have excellent curing ability with a 98% and 95% thiol conversion, respectively within 7 h at 100 degrees C. Using 2b or 2d, transparent thiol-vinyl sulfone resins with a refractive index of 1.57 and an Abbe number of 47.78 are successfully produced.

Synthesis of s-triazine based tri-imidazole derivatives and their application as thermal latent curing agents for epoxy resin

A series of novel s-triazine based tri-imidazole derivatives were successfully prepared through the substitution reaction of cyanuric chloride with imidazole (IM), 2-methylimidazole (2MI), 2-ethylimidazole (2EI) and 2-ethyl-4-methylimidazole (EMI), respectively. The synthesized tri-imidazole derivatives were applied in epoxy resin (EP) to investigate their curing behaviors and thermal latency. Compared with the EP systems containing the unmodified imidazoles, the curing exothermic peaks of the EP systems containing s-triazine based tri-imidazole derivatives shifted to higher temperature regions. Moreover, the EP systems containing s-triazine based tri-imidazole derivatives had much longer storage stability at room temperature. The s-triazine structure with strong electron withdrawing effect reduced the nucleophilicity of pyridine-like nitrogen atom of imidazole ring, resulting in the suppression of reactivity of the modified imidazole derivatives towards EP at room temperature. Nevertheless, the s-triazine based tri-imidazole derivatives regained fast curing performance towards EP at elevated temperatures. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
