A novel protic ionic liquid/silica gel electrolyte has been prepared by in-situ one-step sol-gel method. The as-prepared proton-conductivity composite gel electrolyte is smooth, transparent, and flexible. It is shown that this composite gel electrolyte has good thermal stability (>300°C), wide electrochem. window (>2.8 V), and high proton conductivity (11.25×10-3 S cm-1, 80°C).
