A robust approach to gem-dialkylbenzyl heterocycles has been developed through a triflic acid-catalyzed hydroarylation of olefinic heterocycles. A broad range of substrates containing pyridine, quinoline, pyrazole, triazole and imidazole moieties are shown to be highly compatible with this method.
