In a wide temperature range of 20-80°C, the equilibrium of reaction is reached within only 15 min, which is much faster than the reported acylation of cellulose. Furthermore, the resultant cellulose tribenzoates have excellent solubility in conventional organic solvents, thus they can be used to accurately reflect the mol. weight and dispersity index of cellulose raw materials by gel permeation chromatog. This method is suitable for various cellulose. Therefore, we found a new principle to realize the extremely-rapid acylation of cellulose, and proposed an effective approach to accurately determine the mol. weight parameters of cellulose.

Natural evolution offers woods with intriguing multicomponent and anisotropic cellular structures, and endows super physicochem. properties. In order to compete with natural woods, many types of artificial woods were endeavored from polymers to achieve on-demand structures and functionalities. In most cases, production of oriented channels in mimic of wood lumina relied on a delicate unidirectional freeze-drying approach and utilization of volatile solvents. Herein we showed that artificial woods with controllable channel orientation could be produced from polymers in involatile solvents without particular control of freezing parameters. By dissolving cellulose in ionic liquid, oriented channels (diameter of 250-540μm) were produced through diffusion-induced phase separation and strengthened through a facile freezing and air-drying process. The compressive strength could reach 5.5 MPa at the strain of 15% along the channel direction. With the presence of structural anisotropy, incorporation of low-dimension nanomaterials offered the design flexibility in adding super properties in mechanics, water transportation, solar-thermal effect, thermal and photo conductance. For example, artificial hybrid woods with carbon nanotubes showed super solar-thermal property. When combining with the water-transporting ability of oriented channels, it was promising to design an efficient solar-thermal evaporator (5.88 kg m-2 h-1 under equivalent 3-sun irradiation). Thus, this study not only suggests an unprecedented approach of producing artificial woods from polymers in involatile solvents, but also offers the flexibility of designing microstructures and functionalities of artificial woods for various applications.

Sodium salts of omeprazole, lansoprazole, pantoprazole, rabeprazole and ilaprazole are proton pump inhibitors(PPIs) containing the chiral sulfoxide, so each has a pair of enantiomers. In order to understand the electronic structures of above five PPIs, the d. functional theory(DFT) and the polarizable continuum model(PCM) were performed on the S isomers in water at B3LYP/6-311++G** level. On this basis, the ECD spectra of these mols. were studied using the time-dependent d. functional theory(TD-DFT) at the same level. The calculation results demonstrate two conclusions: in the S isomers of above five PPIs, the bond critical points indicating the formation of the bonds exists between Na(21) and N(11), and the similar phenomenon exists between Na(21) and O(2); S-omeprazole sodium and S-ilaprazole sodium have the similar ECD spectrum, both having neg. CD absorption bands near 300 nm mainly derived from π->π* charge transition, besides S-Ilaprazole sodium having a pos. cotton effect mainly derived from π->d charge transition of benzimidazole ring to Na(21); S-Lansoprazole sodium, S-Pantoprazole sodium and S-Rabeprazole sodium have the similar ECD spectrum, having two neg. CD absorption bands at 230 and 300 nm both mainly derived from the π->π* charge transition.
