Isolation of cellulose from waste polyester/cotton blended fabrics (WBFs) is a bottleneck for recycling and exploiting waste textiles. The synthesis of Et 2-chloropropanoate in acidic imidazolium ionic liquids was studied. Four imidazolium ionic liquids were prepared and employed as catalysts in the esterification. Their acidities were measured by Hammett method and the acidity-catalytic activity relationship was investigated. [Hmim]HSO4 was found to be the most efficient catalyst. A series of task-specific ionic liquids(TSILs) that bear an alkane sulfonic acid group were synthesized. Esterification of succinic acid with octanol was investigated using these TSILs as catalysts in both microwave irradiation and traditional heating ways. Effect of the anion and cation of the TSILs on catalytic performance was also investigated. Compared with elec. heating way, TSILs exhibited an enhanced reaction efficiency and short reaction time under microwave irradiation Effect of catalyst amount, reaction time and the acid-to-alc. ratio on conversion of succinic acid was systematically investigated. The results showed that the conversion of succinic acid reached 95.74% by using[PSPy]HSO4 as the catalyst under succinic acid/octanol molar ratio of 1:4, succinic acid mass fraction of 3wt% in TSILs, reaction temperature of 150°C, reaction time of 15 min and power of 400W. In addition, the [PSPy]HSO4 exhibited excellent stability and catalytic activity. It could be reused six times without considerable loss of activity and still had a conversion of 93.58%.
