Four novel thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials with phenoxazine (PXZ) and 9,10-dihydro-9,9-dimethylacridine (ACR) as electron donors and 1,2-diphenyl-1H-phenanthro[9,10- d]imidazole (PI), and 1,2-diphenyH H-benzo[d]imidazole (Bl) as electron acceptors (PXZ-PI, ACR- Pl, PXZ-BI, ACR-BI) were designed and theor. investigated for blue OLED emitter. Using DFT and TDDFT calculations, we gained the electron distribution of HOMO and LUMO and the energy of the lowest singlet (S1) and the lowest triplet (T1) excited states. All of the materials have a small spatial overlap between HOMO and ã-UMÖ because of the relatively large dihedral angle between the Ph ring and the acceptor moiety. In terms of the energy difference (ΔEST) between the (S1) state and the T1, state, PXZ-PI, PXZ-BI, and ACR-BI showed the small ΔEST. However, ACR-PI showed the large ΔEST. Among the TADF materials, we showed that ACR-BI would have the best TADF properties in terms of small ΔEST and blue LED emitters.

Based on the results of TGA and Raman spectroscopy it was found that acrylic acid was effectively graft-polymerized on the MWCNTs. This paper presents the synthesis of GO-coated microbubbles which would be useful for environmental remediation and enhanced heat transfer applications. The mechanism of microbubble-GO attachment including electrostatic interactions, hydrophobic attraction, contact angle and Gibb’s free energy were determined Preliminary experiments indicated that water alone is not favorable, which thus necessitated the use of a bridging surfactant. The optimum attachment between microbubbles and GO occurred at the GO’s isoelec. point (IEP) in the ionic liquid as surfactant (IL), in which the IL concentration allowed GO to achieve maximum hydrophobicity. Therefore, it is inferred that hydrophobic attraction is the dominant force for microbubble-GO attachment with minor contributions from electrostatic interactions. Further studies showed that the longest carbon chain length IL, i.e. 1-Dodecyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([C12mim]Cl) produced the most conducive environment for microbubble-GO attachment at its IEP concentration of 350 ppm.

In a biomimetic approach inspired by copper amine oxidases, we disclose herein the scope and factors influencing the success of the cooperative action of CuBr2 as electron-transfer mediator and a topaquinone-like substrate-selective catalyst in the oxidative cyclocondensation of primary amines with o-aminoanilines. This one-pot atom-economic multistep process, which works under green conditions with ambient air as the terminal oxidant, low loadings of catalyst, and equimolar amounts of com. available amine substrates, is particularly suitable for the preparation of 1,2-disubstituted benzimidazoles, e. g., I. Furthermore, it allows the functionalization of nonactivated primary aliphatic amines, which are known to be challenging substrates for non-enzymic catalytic aerobic systems.

Biotin- and 68Ga-based tracers have been suggested as tools that could be used to monitor the survival of avidin-coated islets of Langerhans isolated from pancreas and used in transplantation, i.e., to liver. Three biotin analogs with various alkyl and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) chains coupled to DOTA were synthesized and labeled with 68Ga. The 68Ga labeling was studied at room temperature as well as elevated temperature using either conventional or microwave heating. Radioactivity incorporation reached 95% within 5 and 2 min using the, resp., conventional and microwave heating modes. The specific activity of the tracers was improved by preconcentration and purification of the generator eluate. The binding of the labeled and nonlabeled conjugates to avidin in solution was compared to the binding of native biotin. All compounds maintained good affinity for avidin, though introducing the linkers and chelator, especially the PEG-groups, somewhat decreased the binding affinity. The extent of binding of the labeled compounds to avidin was 54-91% after 5 min. Blocking experiments were performed confirming the specificity of the binding of biotin analogs to avidin. The stability of the three labeled compounds in human serum was studied. The stability of the biotin analog 8 (65% within 30 min) and avidin-biotin complex (80% within 120 min) might be sufficient for the monitoring of the islets of Langerhans. The tracers will be evaluated in in vitro experiments of avidin-coated islets of Langerhans and in transplantation models in vivo.
